AEROS ANNOUNCE SCHEDULE FORMAT FOR 2006-07

Houston to face every Western Conference team,
three Eastern Conference foes

HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Aeros will face 15 opponents in the 2006-07 American Hockey League regular season, as the team announced its schedule format for the campaign Thursday. The entire AHL schedule is expected to be released later this summer. Houston opens up the home portion of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Toyota Center against an opponent to be determined.

Houston’s 15 opponents are one more than it faced in 2005-06. The Aeros will take on the new Worcester Sharks two times, while Syracuse makes a return to the schedule with two games after a one-year hiatus. Worcester is relocating from Cleveland this season.

The Aeros’ division schedule will remain the same, with 12 games (six home, six road) against in-state rival San Antonio, 10 contests (five home, five road) versus Iowa, Omaha and Peoria and eight games (four home, four road) against Chicago and Milwaukee. The Aeros will play 29 of their 40 home games and 58 of their 80 overall games against their division foes.

Houston will take on every Western Conference team, facing North Division foes and long-time rivals Grand Rapids and Manitoba four times (two home, two road) and Hamilton, Rochester, Syracuse and Toronto twice each (one home, one road). The Aeros defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 2003 Calder Cup Finals, and split their first two regular season meetings, in 2005-06.

The Aeros will take on Eastern Conference foes Hartford, Manchester and Worcester two times each (one home, one road).
