MINNESOTA WILD REASSIGNS RW MATTIAS WEINHANDL TO HOUSTON AEROS
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned RW Mattias Weinhandl (pronounced mah-TEE-uhs vayn-hanh-duhl) to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Weinhandl, 26 (6/1/80), collected a goal and an assist in 12 games with Minnesota this season. The 6-foot, 184-pound forward recorded five points (2-3=5) in 15 contests with the Wild in 2005-06 after being claimed off of waivers from the New York Islanders on March 4, 2006. The Ljungby, Sweden native has notched 56 points (19-37=56) in 182 career NHL matches during four seasons with the Islanders and Minnesota. He was originally selected by New York in the third round (78th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Weinhandl has played 33 AHL games – all with Bridgeport from 2002-04 – registering 30 points (12-18=30).
