HOUSTON, Texas – Joel Perrault and Donald MacLean tallied two goals apiece and David LeNeveu made 20 saves, as San Antonio defeated Houston 4-2 Toyota Center in the season finale for both teams. San Antonio (32-42-2-4) snapped a four-game losing streak.

Aaron Voros and Peter Olvecky each scored a goal and Miroslav Kopriva made 38 stops for Houston (27-43-4-6), which fell to 24-4-2-0 all-time at home against San Antonio.

San Antonio dominated the first period, taking 14 of the game’s first 15 shots, and outshooting Houston 17-2 in the first period.

Perrault’s ninth goal put the Rampage up 1-0 at the 9:42 mark. Ryan Flinn skated behind the net and flipped a pass to a cutting Perrault, who banged the puck under Kopriva.

Houston’s Jason Morgan missed an open net from a bad angle with 2:15 left in the first.

Perrault extended the lead to two goals with 1:07 remaining in the opening period, deflecting a Bryan Helmer point shot on the power play by Kopriva.

MacLean netted his 32nd goal, with the man advantage, just 27 seconds into the middle period for a 3-0 advantage.

Voros answered right back with his 11th tally – second with Houston – tucking a wraparound inside the near post exactly a minute later.

MacLean’s second of the night and 33rd of the season came when he crashed the net, again on the power play, and pushed a rebound into the open cage.

Olvecky scooted up ice and converted a 2-on-0 with a shot under LeNeveu for his 12th goal, with 3:15 left in the second.

Houston’s Joel Ward beat LeNeveu clean early in the third, but the puck rolled off LeNeveu’s back and wide.

The Aeros got 1:36 of a 5-on-3 with 7:37 remaining in regulation after penalties to former Aero Alex Leavitt and Matthew Spiller, but they didn’t find the net.

Houston pulled Kopriva with 45 ticks remaining, but the extra man did not help.

Houston finished 0-for-5 on the power play, while San Antonio went 3-for-8.

Notes:
  • Not dressing for the Aeros were Dieter Kochan and Joey Tetarenko.
  • The Aeros haven’t outshot any of their last 18 opponents. San Antonio, meanwhile, outshot just its 23rd of 80 opponents this season. But the Rampage outshot the Aeros in each of the last two games.
  • Houston fell to 8-2-3 all-time in home finales, and 10-2-1 in season finales.
  • The Aeros’ five straight regulation home losses tie the franchise record, set from December 5-22, 1995.
