Teddy Bear Toss is Saturday, players chipping in

By:

Houston, TX – The American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros, primary developmental affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, will host a Teddy Bear Toss Saturday when the team takes on the San Antonio Rampage at 7 p.m. The Aeros are asking fans to bring in teddy bears or other stuffed animals to throw onto the ice after Houston’s first goal of the game. Also Saturday, the Aeros will be giving away 3,000 sets of playing cards.

Several players will be delivering the toys and bears to Second Mile on Monday, December 15. Jason Beckett and Jeff Hoggan initiated their own player-driven toy drive. Fans may donate other toys at the La Branch entrance to the Toyota Center to benefit the cause.

Second Mile Mission Center is a nonprofit organization serving less-fortunate families in Fort Bend County. The toys collected by the Aeros players will be used in the Second Mile Mission Center’s Five Days of Christmas. When families come into the center the parents will pick out presents for their children while the children get presents for their parents. All gifts are free of charge to the families. For more information on the Houston Aeros Toy Drive please contact Janna Brown at 713-361-7922.
