HOUSTON AEROS ANNOUNCE FIFTH ANNUAL CHRONICLE IN EDUCATION KIDS DAY GAME TO BE HELD JANUARY 10

GAME RESCHEDULED FOR 11:05 A.M. START

HOUSTON, Texas – The American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros have announced the annual Chronicle in Education Kids Day Game will be held on January 10, 2008 against the Manitoba Moose. The start time of the game has been changed to 11:05 a.m. CDT to accommodate the fifth annual event.

The field trip is designed to help children in the Houston area prepare for their standardized state TAKS and TEKS tests. The Aeros are tying in school curriculums with the game of hockey to provide a fun, learning environment for the students. Students who participate receive a TAKS and TEKS lesson plan booklet compliments of the Houston Chronicle. In past years, the event has drawn over 7,000 students representing more than 40 schools.

“This game provides a great opportunity for the community to gather and enjoy themselves on what would otherwise be a busy work day.” said Andrew Stephens, Coordinator of Community Programs. “The kids are always very energetic and enthusiastic at these games and the adults that come are excited to take an extended lunch break from work. The event seems to have become an annual tradition.”

Many Title One schools in the Houston area are not able to afford these costs, and the Aeros are looking for sponsors to help subsidize the many costs involved.
