Tyler Moss stopped 29 of 31 shots and Tomas Mojzis scored a power-play goal for Manitoba, which is winless (0-5-1) in its last six, scoring just seven goals in that span.
Hoggan wasted little time getting things started, scoring just 34 seconds into the game on assists from Bill Muckalt (two helpers in the game) and Cullen.
Only 3:33 into the second, Cullen posted his first goal of the season, getting one past Moss on helpers from Muckalt and Hoggan.
The Moose got on the board on the power play, their only man-advantage chance of the game, with 28 seconds remaining in the second. Mojzis took a feed from Fedor Fedorov and beat Holmqvist for his first tally of 2003-04. The power-play goal was the first given up this season by the Aeros after 31 successful penalty kills.
Manitoba could muster no more offense, sending just three shots on Holmqvist in the final 20 minutes. The netminder has yielded just six goals in his last four games.
Notes
Muckalt, who was a minus-seven in the first six games, was a plus-two to go along with his two assists tonight.
The Aeros are 2-2-1 thus far on a seven-game homestand, which continues Tuesday and wraps up Thursday against Milwaukee. Houston opened the season with a 5-1 win in Milwaukee October 17.
Houston was 0-for-5 on the power play.
