TWO HOUSTON AEROS NAMED TO CANADIAN ALL-STAR TEAM

PlanetUSA ALL-STAR TEAM TO BE NAMED WEDNESDAY

HOUSTON, Texas – The American Hockey League (AHL) announced today that Houston Aeros’ center Corey Locke and goaltender Barry Brust have been assigned to the Canadian AHL All-Star team for the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications. Locke will be playing in his third All-Star Classic while this is Brust’s first appearance in his fourth AHL season. The game will be played on Monday, January 26 in Worcester, Massachusetts at 6 p.m. CST with a skills competition on Sunday, January 25 at 4 p.m.

Locke, appearing in his third AHL All-Star Classic, has tallied 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) in 36 games played with the Aeros so far this year. He skated in last year’s Classic for the Hamilton Bulldogs tallying three points (one goal, two assists) and earning a plus-3 rating. Locke also played for the Bulldogs during the 2006 All-Star Game earning a plus-1 rating. Locke is in his fifth AHL season.

Brust, in his second season with Houston, has an 8-6-3 record through 22 games played this year. He leads the team with a 2.30 goals against average (GAA), tied for fourth in the AHL, and a .919 save percentage, tying him at eighth in the league. Last season Brust finished with a 2.27 GAA (6th in AHL) and a .919 save percentage (T-6th in AHL) and helped earn the Harry "Hap" Holmes award, along with teammate Nolan Schaefer, for fewest goals allowed in during the 2007-08 regular season.

Forwards – Steve Downie – Norfolk, Alexandre Giroux – Hershey, Claude Giroux – Philadelphia, Mike Iggulden – Bridgeport, Jason Krog – Manitoba, Brett MacLean – San Antonio, Mark Mancari – Portland, Chris Minard – Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Cal O’Reilly – Milwaukee, Teddy Prucell – Manchester, Martin St. Pierre – Providence and Mike Santorelli – Milwaukee
Defensemen – Johnny Boychuk – Providence, Kyle Cumiskey – Lake Erie, Cody Franson – Milwaukee, Bryan Helmer – Hershey, Derek Joslin – Worcester, Andrew MacDonald – Bridgeport, Brett Palin – Quad City and Danny Syvret – Philadelphia
Goaltenders – Mike Brodeur – Rochester and Brian Elliot – Binghamton.

A total of 24 players – 13 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders – make up the team. Click here to see the entire Canadian AHL All-Star roster. AHL fans determined the starting lineup via online balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the remainder of the roster. The PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team will be announced at 1 p.m. CST Wednesday.
