AEROS KICK OFF FIRST “GO GREEN GAME” SUNDAY

HOUSTON – The Houston Aeros announce today their first ever “Go Green Game” to be held Sunday, November 15, at 4:05 p.m. against the Chicago Wolves. A portion of ticket sale proceeds from the game will benefit Trees for Houston and the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR). Fans are encouraged to bring their used cell phones to the game as Compucycle will be on hand taking donations. Compucycle will donate one dollar per pound collected to Trees for Houston. In addition, for a donation of $5 fans can purchase a tree seedling on the concourse, all of which are native species to Texas.

“We are so excited about our partnership with the Houston Aeros,” said Barry Ward, Executive Director of Trees for Houston. “Our hope is that the ‘Go Green Game’ raises awareness about our mission to plant, promote and protect trees all over the Houston area. The donations that are raised from the game will go towards planting trees to help maintain Houston’s green urban canopy.”

Trees for Houston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to planting, protecting and promoting trees. Since our beginning in 1983, Trees for Houston has planted and distributed over 360,000 trees and seedlings. At the end of the 2008-2009 planting season, 45,000 trees were planted along Houston’s residential and commercial streets, in parks, along bayous and trails and on school campuses. The State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to supporting and increasing waste minimization activities in Texas.
