ROCKFORD VISITS TOYOTA CENTER TUESDAY

HOUSTON - LW Robbie Earl notched a pair of goals to lead the Houston Aeros (32-32-7-5) to a 3-2 victory over the Texas Stars (45-25-3-4) in front of 6,302 at the Cedar Park Center Saturday night. G Darcy Kuemper (2-0-0) made 21 saves to earn his second career victory in as many starts. G Brent Krahn (17-4-0) made 29 saves in the loss.

BOXSCORE

After a scoreless first, both sides visited the red light district early in the second period. The Aeros got on the board at the 1:24 mark to open the scoring when C Peter Zingoni redirected D Maxim Noreau's slap shot from the left point. D Marco Scandella was credited with the secondary helper for his first professional point. Just over a minute later the Stars knotted things up on the power play. C Perttu Lindgren circled his way to the right faceoff circle before firing a pass to D Andrew Hutchinson who uncorked a one-timer past Kuemper at 2:26.

The Aeros retook the lead when Earl banged home his own rebound for his ninth of the campaign at 12:37. C Tony Hrkac was credited with his second helper on the season while RW Jon DiSalvatore earned the secondary assist.

Earl extended the Aeros lead to 3-1 with a power play marker 2:02 into the final session. D Ryan Gunderson maneuvered his way to the right point where his slap shot deflected off Earl’s stick and past Krahn. Texas brought the deficit back to one at the 5:31 mark off the stick of C Travis Morin, but that’s as close as they’d get.

The Aeros outshot Texas 32-23 extending their streak to a season-high four games with 30+ shots on goal. Houston went 1-for-3 on the power play while killing 3-of-4 penalties on the night. The Aeros improved to 3-7-1-0 against Texas in their final trip to Cedar Park this season as they win back-to-back games for the first time since February 3.

The Aeros return home Tuesday for their second to last home game as they host the Rockford IceHogs for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop from Toyota Center. Watch the game live on
