AEROS POSTGAME: AEROS 4, STARS 3 (OT)

By:

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS --- Cody Almond scored the power play game-winner in overtime as the Houston Aeros nipped the Texas Stars 4-3 Saturday night at Cedar Park Center before a crowd of 5,009.

Fabian Brunnstrom’s high-sticking penalty put the Aeros on a 4-on-3 advantage 50 seconds into extra time and Almond cashed in, banging home a rebound, to give the Aeros their fourth win in five tries over the Stars. J.M. Daoust and Scandella earned assists on the winning goal.

The win pulled Houston into a tie for fourth place in the West Division with the Milwaukee Admirals. Each team has 29 points, while the win over the Stars gave the Aeros one more win (13) than Milwaukee, which was idle Saturday.

Texas responded with a power play goal by Travis Morin at 16:26 and then evened the score with Colton Sceviour’s tally just 1:13 into the final period.

Warren Peters answered to pull the Aeros ahead at 6:32, but Texas pressured and again tied the game, this time on Cody Chupp’s goal at 14:58.

The Aeros closed out a 3-in-3 stretch garnering four of a possible six points against West Divison rivals.

The Aeros travel to Oklahoma City for a matchup on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. with the Barons. The team returns home Friday, Dec. 10, to face the San Antonio Rampage in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Call 713-974-7825 for more information on Aeros tickets and other promotions.
