The Houston Aeros overcame a three-goal second period deficit and scored twice in the shootout to take a 5-4 win over the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday at Toyota Center in front of a Toyota Center record crowd of 13,390.

AEROS POSTGAME REPORT
FEB. 4: HOU 5, LE 4 (SO)

HOUSTON ---
  The Houston Aeros overcame a three-goal second period deficit and scored twice in the shootout to take a 5-4 win over the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday at Toyota Center in front of a Toyota Center record crowd of 13,390.

David McIntyre scored a goal on his 25th birthday and Chay Genoway, Jeff Taffe and Kris Foucault each had goals before Justin Fontaine and C.J. Stretch scored in the shootout. Matt Hackett stopped all four shots he saw in the shootout for the win.

Stretch also had two assists for Houston, which improved to 23-11-3-9 and cut Oklahoma City's city lead in the AHL's West Division to seven points, while extending its lead over Abbotsford for second place in the West Division to three points.

Trailing 4-1, Genoway cut the lead to 4-2 with a power play goal at 18:54 in the second period, and Taffe scored at 11:03 in the third to make it 4-3. Foucault capped the comeback with his eighth goal of the year at 14:29 in the third.

McIntyre put the Aeros up 1-0 at 6:56 in the first period with his 11th goal of the season.

Greg Mauldin tied it at 1-1 with a power play goal at 12:39 of the first. Justin Mercier put the Monsters ahead 2-1 at 13:47 in the first, and Luke Walker made it 3-1 at five minutes later. Mercier scored at 13:29 in the second period to make it 4-1.

The Aeros end their three-game homestand against the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday at 12:05 p.m. at Toyota Center before hitting the road for an 11-game road trip.

BOMB DROPPINGS
The attendance of 13,390 is the largest crowd for the Aeros since moving to Toyota Center in 2002-03 season...  It is the largest Aeros crowd since 13,342 on Jan. 16, 2004... David McIntyre had his second goal in three games and has points in three of the last four games (2-2=4)... Joel Broda has points in three of his last four games (2-1=3)... Chay Genoway has goals in two straight games for the first time in his career... Justin Fontaine has points in six of the last seven games (2-6=8) and eight of the last 11 games (3-7=10)... C.J. Stretch had his first two-point game as an Aero his two assists... Jeff Taffe scored his first goal since December 30 at San Antonio... Harrison Reed, who was signed by the Aeros to a PTO Friday, had his first assist with the Aeros since December 30 at San Antonio... Chad Rau, who was reassigned to Houston from Minnesota Friday, had his first assist as an Aero since January 8 at San Antonio... Kris Foucault scored his first goal since January 8 at San Antonio... Mike Radja now has points in four of the last six games (2-3=5) and five of the nine games he has played for the Aeros (2-4=6).
