WILD RECALL KUEMPER, SCANDELLA ASSIGNED TO HOUSTON
Aeros Sign Goalie Aaron Dell to a PTO

Houston, TX – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced on Tuesday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) and reassigned defenseman Marco Scandella to the Aeros. Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill also announced the team has signed goaltender Aaron Dell to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Kuemper, 22 (5/5/90), is 10-6-0 with a 1.79 goals-against average (GAA), a .938 SV% and four shutouts in 16 games for Houston this season. The 6-foot-5, 207-pound native of Saskatoon, Sask., ranks second in the AHL in GAA and SV% and tied for fourth in shutouts. Kuemper appeared in 19 games with the Aeros in 2011-12 and went 6-6-4 with a 2.36 GAA, a .923 SV% and one shutout. He also played in eight games with the Ontario Reign (ECHL) and posted a 7-1-0 record with a 1.74 GAA and a .941 SV%. Kuemper was named the Western Hockey League (WHL) Goaltender and Player of the Year in 2010-11 after compiling a record of 45-12-15 with a 1.86 GAA, a .933 SV% and 13 shutouts in 62 games for the Red Deer Rebels. He ranked first in the WHL in wins, GAA, SV% and shutouts.

Kuemper was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He has not appeared in an NHL game and will wear sweater #35 with the Wild.

Scandella, 22 (2/23/90), collected one goal and averaged 14:25 in TOI/game in six contests with Minnesota after being recalled from Houston on Jan. 27. He has recorded 15 points (4-11=15) in 89 career games with the Wild. Scandella has played in 24 games for Houston this season, scoring one goal and totaling 11 points.

Dell is a first-year pro, spending the season with the Central Hockey League’s Allen Americans, Houston’s CHL affiliate. In 28 appearances, Dell is 13-5-6 with a 2.22 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. The 23-year old played collegiately at the University of North Dakota, going 49-20-5 over three seasons with a 2.15 goals against average and a .912 save percentage. 

Houston continues on an eight-game road trip on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Texas at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Aeros return home on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7:05 p.m. as Houston hosts Oklahoma City at Toyota Center. The team will celebrate Boy Scout Night by handing out 2012-13 team posters to the first 2,000 fans.
