SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Hockey League's (NHL) Minnesota Wild selected the following six players during the second day of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in Nashville, Tennessee: forward Marcin Kolusz (pronounced Ka-Loose) (5th round, 157th overall), goaltender Miroslav Kopriva (pronounced KO-Priva) (6th round, 187th overall), Grigory Misharin (7th round, 207th overall), left wing Adam Courchaine (pronounced Core-Shane) (7th round, 219th overall), left wing Mathieu Melanson (8th round, 251st overall) and defenseman Jean-Michel Bolduc (9th round, 281st overall).
The Minnesota Wild selected a total of nine players (six forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender) during the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The club selected right wing Brent Burns (1st round, 20th overall), center Patrick O'Sullivan (2nd round, 56th overall) and center Danny Irmen (3rd round, 78th overall) on day one of the 2003 Entry Draft. Minnesota obtained the 78th pick from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for the Wild's 91st and 125th pick in this year's draft.
Kolusz, 18 (1/18/85), recorded six points (2-4=6) in 30 games for Novy Targ of the Poland Hockey League. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound forward collected three points (1-2=3) in five games for Team Poland at the 2003 Under-20 World Hockey Championships. NHL Central Scouting rated him 49th among European skaters.
Kopriva, 19 (12/5/83), played in 31 games for Kladno of the Czech Republic Junior League. The 6-foot-2, 176-pound goaltender posted four shutouts and a 1.93 goals against average (GAA). Kopriva is a native of Kladno, Czech Republic.
Misharin, 18 (5/11/85), was ranked 59th among European skaters in the NHL Central Scouting final rankings. The 6-foot, 198-pound defenseman scored four points (1-3=4) in 28 games for Yekaterinburg of the Russian Elite League. He recored two assists in six games for Russia in the 2003 Under-18 World Hockey Championships. Misharin is a native of Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Courchaine, 19 (5/23/84), led the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in scoring with 85 points (42-43=85) in 71 games and ranked fifth in the League in goals. The Winnipeg, Manitoba-native was named to the WHL All-Star Team and was invited to attend Canada's National Junior Team Development Camp in August. The 5-10, 175-pound left wing was ranked 159th by NHL Central Scouting.
Melanson, 17 (8/21/85), tallied 47 points (20-27=47) in 69 games during his rookie season for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He ranked third among rookie scorers in the QMJHL. The 6-foot, 185-pound left wing was born in Long Island, New York.
Bolduc, 18 (2/27/85), notched 19 points (5-14=19) and 164 penalty minutes in 68 games with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound defenseman was born in Portland, Maine.
