Entering the 15th year of Houston Aeros hockey, only one remains from the inaugural 1994 season, athletic trainer Jerry Meins. Originally from Hawarden, Iowa, Meins and his wife, Margene, have called Houston home since 1974, when he served as the head trainer for the Houston Oilers (NFL).
In a career that has spanned over 30 years, Meins is no stranger to championship celebrations in his locker rooms. During his days as an assistant trainer at the University of Southern California, he was a member of the staff of the National Champion Trojan football team of 1972, as well as the four-time USC National Champion baseball teams of 1970-1973. During his 13-year tenure with the Oilers, Meins was there to celebrate their back-to-back AFC Championships in 1978 and 1979. Meins has also won a pair of championships with the Aeros.
Meins has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa, where he majored in physical education with a specialization in athletic training, and a Masters of Education from the University of Arizona.
