WILD RECALLS C SMITH, RW FOY
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild president and general manager Doug Risebrough has announced that the National Hockey League club has recalled center Wyatt Smith and right wing Matt Foy (pictured) from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Both players were tied for the Aeros’ team scoring lead with four points.
Smith, 29 (2/13/77), has posted two goals and two assists in five games. Smith has played 125 career NHL games with the New York Islanders, Phoenix and Nashville, totaling 23 points (7-16=23). The Thief River Falls, Minn., native, and former Minnesota Golden Gopher won a Calder Cup in Milwaukee in 2004.
Foy, 23 (5/18/83), has a goal and three helpers in five games. He ranked sixth on the Aeros roster last season with 40 points (15-25=40) despite playing in just 51 games. Foy played 19 games with the Wild last season, registering five points (2-3=5). He scored both his NHL goals against Vancouver on October 12, 2005.
