SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. Minnesota Wild General Manager Doug Risebrough announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled D Erik Reitz from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL), the teams primary development affiliate. The club also announced today that D Brad Brown has been placed on injured reserve with a broken right wrist.
Reitz, 21 (7/29/82), recorded 10 points (2-8=10) in 27 games with Houston this season. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound defenseman ranked second on the team with a +2 rating, 66 penalty minutes and two game-winning goals. He collected 19 points (6-13=19) and 112 penalty minutes in his first professional season with the Aeros last year. Reitz played for Team USA at the 2002 World Junior Championships and registered one assist and 12 penalty minutes in seven games. He collected 78 points (20-58=78) and 416 penalty minutes in 194 games with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 1999-2002. Reitz was named to the 2002 OHL First All-Star Team and the 2000 Memorial Cup All-Star Team.
The Detroit, Michigan-native was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (170th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
