Houston, TX The American Hockey Leagues Houston Aeros, primary developmental affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, have assigned center Ed McGrane to the ECHLs Louisiana IceGators. The Aeros also announced that defenseman Josh DeWolf was released from his AHL contract to pursue a playing opportunity in Germany.
McGrane, a rookie, had an assist in his first game with the Aeros, last Wednesday in Utah. He played in two contests with Houston after being called up from CHL Corpus Christi on December 1. McGrane had an eye-popping 14 goals and 21 points in just 19 games with Corpus Christi. The 25-year-old, 5-foot-11, 185-pound McGrane played collegiately at UMass-Lowell.
The 26-year-old DeWolf is in his sixth full AHL season. He had notched one assist in 12 games with the Aeros, his fourth AHL team. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound native of Bloomington, Minn., has career totals of 78 games (13g, 65a) in 363 games.
The Aeros visit Grand Rapids this Friday for a 6:30 p.m. matchup, then return home Saturday to face San Antonio at 7 p.m. Saturday is the Teddy Bear Toss, as the Aeros ask all fans to bring in a teddy bear or other stuffed animal to throw on the ice after the teams first goal.
