Salt Lake City, UT Erik Reitz and Jason Marshall each recorded a goal and two assists, and the Houston Aeros broke out of an offensive slump with a 4-1 win over the Utah Grizzlies at the E Center. Matt Foy had a goal and an assist, Stephane Veilleux also scored and Johan Holmqvist made 18 saves for Houston, which snapped a three-game skid.
Gerard Dicaire had a goal for the Grizzlies, who had earned a 6-1 win over the Aeros on Friday. Utah (3-6-1-2) has still not won back-to-back games this season. Utahs Mike Smith, who made 48 saves in a 2-1 win at Houston last month, was chased after allowing three goals on nine shots. Jason Bacashihua made 17 saves in the relief effort.
Houston pounced on Smith three times in a span of 4:50 to take control in the first period.
Marshall finished off a Dan Cavanaugh feed at 11:05 for a 1-0 lead. Reitz power play goal made it 2-0 at the 13:33 mark, and then Foy scored with the man advantage at 15:55.
Dicaire ruined Holmqvists shutout attempt with 1:29 gone in the second, but Veilleux answered back exactly two minutes later for the Aeros, who were able to hold the Grizzlies at bay for the remainder of the game.
Houston went 2-for-4 on the power play, while killing off all five of Utahs man-advantage attempts.
