WILD WILL HAVE HOME ICE IN FIRST ROUND OF 2008 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS

HOUSTON, Texas – The Minnesota Wild, National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate of the Houston Aeros, clinched their first Northwest Division title Thursday night with a 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames at Xcel Energy Centerd. The Wild, which will hold the Western Conference’s No. 3 seed in the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs, is currently 44-28-9 with 97 points heading into Sunday’s 2 p.m. season finale at Colorado. Thursday’s win also marked the 500th regular season victory in Head Coach Jacques Lemaire’s career.

The 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin on April 9 and 10. Minnesota’s first round opponent and schedule will not be determined until the conclusion of the NHL’s regular season on April 6.

The Aeros are continuing to vie for a playoff spot. Houston's magic number sits at eight points with seven games remaining in the regular season. They play the Grand Rapids Griffins tonight at the Van Andel Arena in the first of three games in three nights.
