HOUSTON AEROS HIGHLIGHT COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Aeros are pleased to announce Community, Youth and Amateur Hockey programs for the 2008-09 season. The Aeros strive to incorporate local groups and hockey teams into special opportunities including ice time at Toyota Center, fundraisers for organizations, choirs singing the National Anthem and much, much more!

Would your child like to be the Flag Bearer with Chilly at a Houston Aeros home game? The Houston Aeros Youth and Amateur Hockey program is giving hockey enthusiasts around Houston the chance to share the spotlight at Toyota Center this season. Youth players in the Houston area will have the chance to line up with the Houston Aeros for the singing of the National Anthem, play an exhibition during an intermission and carry the Aeros flag during player introductions.

Adult teams will once again get their shot to “Play Like the Pros” before or after an Aeros game. “Play Like the Pros” is your team’s opportunity to play an actual game at Toyota Center with all of the amenities a professional hockey team is provided. All of this information and more is available on the new AEROS.com. Just click on the Amateur Hockey link and get updates on all current events from leagues across Houston. For more information about Hockey Programs or to set up a game at Toyota Center contact Josh Young at (713) 361-7937 or email him at jyoung@aeros.com.

Youth groups can make use of Aeros fundraising opportunities by selling discounted tickets to raise money for their organizations. Groups can also perform during Aeros games such as perform a dance routine, figure skating, singing the National Anthem or any other song of your choice during an intermission. Past performances have included songs such as “Hey There Delilah” by Plain White T’s and “Billy Jean” by Michael Jackson.

The Aeros will host the 6th Annual Kids’ Game and provide workbooks to help educate students who are preparing for the TAKS and TEKS tests. This year’s game will be held on Thursday, December 4 at 11:05 a.m.; it is a perfect field trip and a great educational opportunity outside of the classroom. For more information about the fundraising, performance and school opportunities please call Laura Bacon at (713) 361-7947 or email her at lbacon@aeros.com.

The Houston Aeros hit the Toyota Center ice to start their 15th Anniversary Season on October 11 at 7:35 p.m., the home opener, against the Chicago Wolves! Call the Aeros at (713) 974-PUCK to order your season tickets today! The Aeros pre-season game hosting San Antonio on October 3 was just announced but tickets are limited so call the Sugar Land Ice and Sports Center at (281) 265-7465 for more details.

IN PREPARATION OF HURRICANE IKE, THE AEROS FRONT OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12. THE OFFICE WILL RE-OPEN ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15.
