AEROS DOUBLE UP PROVIDENCE 4-2, REMAIN PERFECT AT HOME

HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Aeros remained tied with the Providence Bruins through two periods but took the final period for a 4-2 victory at Toyota Center Friday night. The win moved Houston (6-3-0-0) into a three-way tie for second place in the West Division with Chicago and Iowa at 12 points. The Aeros extended their home-win streak to seven games - five this season - dating back to last year. The streak ties the club's longest home-winning streak.

GAME RECAP

Providence got on the board first with a tally at 5:41 into the game but just over a minute later Jason Deitsch tied the game with the first of three points on the evening. Krys Kolanos earned the lone assist on Deitsch’s goal at 6:57 in the first period.

Kolanos put the Aeros ahead 2-1 only 1:52 in the second frame as linemate Corey Locke earned his first of two assists on the night. Providence tied the game at two each with 4:23 left in the period, which lasted through the intermission.

Danny Irmen netted his second goal of the season, the eventual game winner, at 3:26 in the third period. Locke and Deitsch earned the assists for the goal. Houston fought off late efforts from the Bruins including an extra-attacker situation. Bryan Lundbohm took advantage of the empty-net when Deitsch passed the puck to set up a breakaway to the open net to complete the 4-2 victory.

GAME NOTES:
- Krys Kolanos’ two-point night marked his second multi-point game of the season. He has totaled seven points (6-1=7) in six games this season.
- Houston’s one penalty, two minutes, marked the lowest total penalty minutes of the young season. The Bruins recorded only four penalty minutes marking the lowest of Aeros’ opponents.
- The win extended the Aeros home-winning streak to seven games, tying a team record, dating back to last season.
- Brothers Nolan and Peter Schaefer played against eachother for the first time as pros Friday ngiht. Peter recorded two shots against Nolan.
