HOUSTON SHUT OUT 4-0 BY HAMILTON BULLDOGS

HOUSTON, Texas – The Hamilton Bulldogs took control in the second period with three goals and held on for a 4-0 shutout of the Houston Aeros in front of 3,665 fans Sunday at Toyota Center. The shutout was the second the Aeros (8-9-0-1) suffered this season dropping their record below .500 for the first time since November 30 of last season. The Aeros stay at home to host the Milwaukee Admirals on “Black Friday” November 28 at Toyota Center in the first game of a three-in-three weekend. Click here for Turkey Day Specials.

Game Summary

The first period was held scoreless for the fourth time in the Aeros’ last seven games. Each team had one power-play opportunity including a Hamilton 4-on-3 but neither club converted on the chances. Hamilton led the period in shots, 8-7 after the opening frame.

Hamilton posted the first goal of the game at 2:01 in the second period when Brock Trotter stuffed in the rebound of David Desharnais’ wrap-around attempt. Houston was put on a power play not quite halfway through the period but couldn't convert before John Lammers was sent to the box. Hamilton took a 2-0 lead on the ensuing man-advantage when Mathieu Carle earned the goal with an assist from Ryan Russell and Matt D'Agostini at 10:54. Hamilton took a 3-0 lead at 11:51 on Hamilton’s second power-play goal of the game as Ben Maxwell netted the puck with an assist from Carle.

Houston fell to a 4-0 deficit at 9:41 when Carle netted his second power-play goal of the game for his third point. D’Agostini and Yanick Lehoux earned the assists on the final marker of the game for the Bulldogs' 4-0 victory.

GAME NOTES:
- The first period was held scoreless for the fourth time in the Aeros’ last seven games. The 0-0 first period was the sixth so far this season after 18 games played.
- The Aeros 3-0 deficit after two periods was the largest they’ve faced so far this season. The largest deficit the Aeros came back from to win was two goals in Houston’s 4-3 victory at San Antonio on October 19.
- After the three second-period goals Houston has been outscored 20-13 in that period.
- The Aeros fell below .500 (8-9-0-1) for the first time since November 30, 2007 when the club was 9-10-1-1.
- Houston’s 38 penalty minutes (PIMs) is the most the club has recorded so far this season.
- Hamilton’s three power-play goals tied the most such goals allowed this season by the Aeros. The Bulldogs had eight man-advantage opportunities.
