THIRD PERIOD GOAL SOURS KHUDOBIN’S
DEBUT IN AEROS 3-2 LOSS AT MILWAUKE

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – The Houston Aeros jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead but allowed three unanswered goals for a 3-2 loss to the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday night. Houston goaltender Anton Khudobin made his season debut stopping a career-high 35 shots in the loss. The Aeros (29-23-1-8) host their annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction this Tuesday before playing at home Thursday against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:05 p.m.

GAMESHEET

Houston was held to only six shots on net during the first period but managed to go 2-for-2 on their power-plays in the frame. The first goal, by Danny Irmen, wasn’t scored until 13:55 of the first. The goal, only 23 seconds into the man-advantage, was assisted by Jesse Schultz and Marco Rosa. Just 2:09 later the Aeros were put on their second power-play of the night. Krys Kolanos gave Houston a 2-0 lead only nine seconds into the man advantage with Maxim Noreau and Corey Locke earning the assists. The two markers would be Houston’s last of the contest

Milwaukee tied the contest in the second frame with a pair of even strength goals, one of which a four-on-four situation. Nick Spaling brought the game within one for the Admirals at 6:03 in the period while Patric Hornqvist tied the contest with 4:22 remaining in the middle frame. Houston allowed the home team three power-play chances in the period but killed off each.

The Aeros were only able to get one shot on net during the final frame for the club’s fewest shots in a period this season. Milwaukee took 14 shots on net and snuck one, the game winner, past Khudobin during a power play. Hugh Jessiman recorded the first power-play marker that Houston has allowed in the last 329:13 of play for the Aeros. The span extended from early in the second period of the Aeros February 15 game against the Chicago Wolves. Khudobin was pulled from the net with 1:22 remaining in the contest as the Aeros hoped to tie the game and force overtime but Milwaukee was able to hold off the late push.

Time is running out to support the 11th Annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction coming up this Tuesday, March 3. Sponsorship opportunities are limited for this event so call Carrie at the Aeros' front office at (713) 361-7911 to reserve your table. Items for the silent and live auctions are still being accepted if you wish to help by donating.
