HOUSTON --- The American Hockey League’s (AHL) Houston Aeros, affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, today announced that Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher has reassigned left wing Colton Gillies to the Aeros from Minnesota.
Gillies, 21 (2/12/89), was recalled by Minnesota on Oct. 19 and played three games with the Wild, averaging 6:08 time on ice (TOI). Gillies posted two points (1-1-2) in four games for the Aeros this season, after recording 20 points (7-13-20) and 73 penalty minutes (PIM) in 72 games for Houston in 2009-10. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound native of White Rock, B.C., spent the 2008-09 season in Minnesota, notching seven points (2-5-7) in 45 games. He scored his first NHL goal, a game-winner, against the New York Islanders on Dec. 19, 2008. Gillies was Minnesota’s first-round selection (No. 16 overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Aeros (4-5-1-0, 9 points) host the Toronto Marlies Friday for a 7:35 p.m. game at Toyota Center. The team will salute active duty personnel, the families of military serving in war zones, families who have lost loved ones, as well as dozens of newly enlisted military.
