HOUSTON AEROS AT CHARLOTTE CHECKERS

OVERVIEW
The Houston Aeros begin their second three-in-three set of the season with a pair of games at Charlotte before returning home on Sunday against Grand Rapids. Both Houston and Charlotte enter the weekend with identical records (2-1-0-1).

Saturday --- at Charlotte Checkers (6 p.m. CST)
Sunday --- vs. Grand Rapids Griffins (5:05 p.m.)

LAST WEEK
The Aeros (2-1-0-1) earned three out of a possible six points last week with a win at Texas on Friday, a shootout loss at home against San Antonio on Saturday and a loss at Oklahoma City on Sunday.

This weekend marks the first two meetings between the teams.

AEROS PLAYER NOTES
---Carson McMillan received a four-game suspension from the AHL for an illegal check to the head on Oct. 15. He will miss all of this weekend’s games plus the game on Oct. 28.
---Casey Wellman had four goals in the first three games of the season. He had two goals on Oct. 9 to record his second multi-goal game in the AHL. He leads the team with 17 shots entering the weekend.
---Justin Fontaine scored his first AHL goal on Oct. 15 and added a shootout goal.
---Jed Ortmeyer had a goal and an assist on Oct. 14 at TEX.
---David McIntyre had two goals on Oct. 14 at TEX.
---Carson McMillan had two assists on Oct. 14 at TEX.
---Kris Foucault and Jeff Taffe each had two assists in the season-opener.
--- Goaltender Darcy Kuemper was reassigned to the Ontario (Calif.) Reign (ECHL) in order to gain playing time. The Aeros had been carrying three goaltenders (Dennis Endras and Matt Hackett are the other two). Kuemper won his debut on Saturday with 28 saves and also stopped 9 of 11 chances in the shootout as the Reign edged the Stockton Thunder 3-2.

AEROS GOALIES
HACKETT ---Started the first three games of the season… Made 23 saves and stopped 9 of 11 chances in the shootout (first 8) on Oct. 15 vs. SAN.

ENDRAS ---Made first Aeros and North American start at OKC on Oct. 16 turning aside 14 of 1 shots in a 2-0 loss.

POWER PLAY
Houston went 2/10 in the first two games of the season and 2/12 in the last two.

PENALTY KILL
The Aeros have stopped 21/24 this season.

FUN FACTS
---The Aeros roster features 15 players who spent time with the team last season, including 10 who saw significant time on the ice during the team’s run to the 2011 Calder Cup Finals.
