AEROS POSTGAME REPORT
JAN. 11: HOU 3, GR 2 (SO)

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --- After trailing 1-0 through the better part of two periods and withstanding a 29-10 shot disadvatage through that time, the Houston Aeros battled back to edge the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 in the shootout on Wednesday at Van Andel Arena.

Jon DiSalvatore's goal in the fifth round of the shootout gave the Aeros the extra point and pulled them within one point of the first place OKC Barons in the American Hockey League's West Division race.

DiSalvatore notched his 12th goal of the season 3:02 into the third period to tie the game at 1-1. Jed Ortmeyer forced extra time with a goal at the 18:02 mark of the third. Aeros goaltender Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves in the win.

Houston continues its four-game road trip this Friday at Peoria at 7 p.m.

BOMB DROPPINGS
Tonight's shootout win was the first in eight tries this season for the Aeros... Houston improved to 4-9-1-2 when trailing after two periods... Matt Hackett was recalled by the Wild prior to the game. Jared Everhardt, a Grand Rapids area goaltender, dressed as Darcy Kuemper's backup.
