Schultz takes Gold, Par and Sloan get Bronze
Prague, Czech Republic Former Aero Nick Schultz (pictured) helped Team Canada capture the 2004 IIHF World Championship title. Canada topped Sweden 5-3 for the title on Sunday. Schultz, who had six points (1-5=6) in 14 playoff games in 2002 for Houston, posted one assist and was even in nine tournament games. Two other former Aeros, Richard Park and Blake Sloan, helped the United States nail down the Bronze. The Americans beat Slovakia 1-0 in a shootout.
The Americans got their first IIHF medal since 1996, when they also won the Bronze. They have two medals since 1962.
Park, who posted 14 points with 13 games with the Aeros in 2001-02 and has been a mainstay with the Wild ever since, was the Americans' leading scorer with eight points (5-3=8) in the tournament. Sloan had two goals in nine games. The Americans knocked out another former Aero, as Rastislav Pavlikovsky plays for Slovakia.
