Dan Cavanaugh Q&A session
What teammate do you most get along with and like to hang out with? What do you think about (Matt) Foy and (Brent) Burns?? A:
(Marc) Cavosies my roommate, so I spend most of my time with him. Hes probably my best buddy. I spend most of my time keeping him out of trouble (laughs). Mark Cullen lives on one side of us and Mike Smith on the other, and (Ray) Giroux lives above us. I hang out with all them the most. Foy and Burns
They are good guys and theyre fun to have in the locker room. I sit between them in the locker room at the practice rink, so I probably pull their legs more than I should. They are both really talented. Chris from Deer Park
Hi, Dan! I attended my first Aeros game ever last season and now am a season ticket holder. I notice in game notes on the site that lots of you guys end up playing against guys that were once teammates with you all on other various teams. Does this change how you play against them? Also do you spend your off time in Houston as well? What is your favorite way to spend your spare time here? Do you and the players ever get together off ice for social meetings?A:
Its a little bit weird the first time you play a former teammate. Roommates and friends like Cory Larose, Lawrence Nycholat and Chris Dyment were traded and had to pick up and leave right away. Its always good to play against them. Youre happy to see them do well but not against you. Its good and friendly. In the summer I go back to Boston or Cape Cod. Lately Ive been taking classes at BU. Its a little too hot for me here in the summer. In my spare time I like to hang out with the guys, play golf, go to movies do things guys my age like to do. J.D. from Pearland
Aside from the Aeros jersey who do you think has the best AHL team logo and/or NHL team logo? A:
Ive never really thought about my favorite AHL logo. But in the NHL its the Bruins logo no doubt. Theres something about the spoked 'B'. Caroline
Hey Dan, its been great seeing you play this season. You're one of my favorite players to watch. I was just curious to know who your favorite hockey player is? And also what is your favorite hockey movie? Thanks and keep up the good work.A:
Growing up it was Cam Neely. He could score goals, fight, he could do everything. Hes a great guy, Ive met him a bunch of times. Nowadays I look at guys like Jeremy Roenick and Steve Yzerman. They are compete players and great leaders. Slapshot is my favorite hockey movie, like most people. They havent made too many good ones. Miracle was good too. One of my teammates from BU was an actor in Miracle. Jane from Sugar Land
Hey, first of all I wanted to say that it is too bad you have been out for the last couple of games. Hopefully you will be back in the line-up soon cause I enjoy seeing you out there! Second of all, I was wondering for the road games that you do stay at home in Houston, do you listen to the guys playing on KNTH? If you do, do you see yourself benefiting in any way by listening to the game instead of being there playing? A:
When the guys are on the road, I usually dont listen to the game because its hard knowing the guys are all battling hard and youre not there. I take the time to relax and recharge for the rest of the season. I try to stay in shape. I always check the scores on the Internet or call the guys when the game is over. Eva
What is the best joke you have played on a teammate and what is the best that's been played on you?A:
A couple weeks ago when Hards (Josh Harding) came back, I told him to get on the ice for warm-ups early and wed all follow him. We just stood behind him and he skated out alone. Everyone thought it was pretty funny. He didnt but he got over it. And I have too much veteran experience to have any jokes pulled on me (laughs).
