'The Voice’ will be broadcast home for the 2002-03 season

HOUSTON – Houston Aeros President Dave Barr and Director of Broadcasting Ken Double are pleased to announce a partnership with radio station KSEV AM 700, “The Voice,” as the exclusive home for Houston Aeros hockey during the 2002-03 season. The agreement covers this season with an option to extend into future seasons.

“With the changing marketplace that is the sports radio dial today, it was a priority to find a radio partner that could deliver all our games for our fans,” said Barr. “KSEV expressed an interest in being a full broadcast partner from the outset, and we are thrilled to be back on AM 700.”

“KSEV is very excited about the return of the Aeros to AM 700. The Aeros are a rarity today, a professional sports team that still appreciates and values their fans. They have a loyal following because they have built this relationship with their fans over many years. We welcome those fans to our KSEV,” said Dan Patrick, KSEV President and General Manager.

Several games from the Eastern Time Zone in the first half of the season will be “joined-in-progress,” however, there will be no pre-emptions of the game broadcasts. Previously, the Aeros lost more than twenty broadcasts in a season due to conflicts with other sports entities.

“It will be great to be ‘The Voice of the Aeros’ and heard on ‘The Voice,’” said Aeros broadcaster Ken Double. “It’s the exclusivity of our sports product that makes this such a great deal for the Aeros and our fans.”

Double returns for his third season as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Aeros, and, for select games, will continue to be teamed up with former Aeros’ goaltender Troy Gamble and veteran Houston sports personality Barry Warner for the broadcasts. The Aeros plan to continue broadcasts on the internet at www.aeros.com, where each game can be heard in its entirety. The team is also exploring opportunities for remote radio specials featuring coaches and players. Details on those broadcasts are being finalized.

The Houston Aeros begin their ninth season of play, and second season in the AHL as the affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. The season gets underway with home games Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th against West Division rivals, the Utah Grizzlies. Airtime on KSEV radio will be 7:30 P.M. both nights.
