WALLIN HELPS SWEDEN TO IIHF INLINE HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
HOUSTON, Texas - Rickard Wallin, who has spent most of the last three seasons with the Houston Aeros, helped Sweden claim the 2005 IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship, in Kuopio, Finland.
Wallin tied for second in the tournament with 19 points, and his 14 assists were tied for the top total. Sweden went 6-0, beating arch-rival Finland 4-2 in Saturday's championship tilt. Wallin had two goals and seven assists in one first-round game alone.
Wallin has played 178 games with the Aeros, totaling 110 points (39-71=110). He is one of 22 players in Aeros team history to garner 100 points. Wallin was selected in the sixth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by Phoenix. The Minnesota Wild acquired Wallin in exchange for center Joe Juneau on June 23, 2000. He has 19 games of NHL experience - all with Minnesota - with 10 points (6-4=10).
