HOUSTON Houston Aeros President and General Manager Dave Barr announced today the Minnesota Wild (National Hockey League) have recalled Aeros right winger Kyle Wanvig. He joins the Wild as they prepare for the second game of their series against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.
Wanvig, 22 (1/29/81), leads Houston in playoff scoring with four goals and one assist for five points in three games. He collected the game-winning goal in each game of the first round sweep of the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League playoffs. The second-year pro finished the regular season with 13 goals, 16 assists and 29 points in 57 games. He made his NHL debut on November 25 and scored his first NHL goal on December 17 against the Edmonton Oilers.
Houston opens their Western Conference Semi-finals round against the Norfolk Admirals tonight at Compaq Center. Game time is 7:30 PM. Game Two is Sunday at 5:00, again at Compaq Center.
