BARONS HOLD OFF HOUSTON AEROS FOR 4-3 WIN 
Same Two Teams Meet Again at 7 p.m. on Saturday in OKC

Oklahoma City, OK – The Houston Aeros (4-3-1-0, 9 points) were defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons (5-3-0-0, 10 points) 4-3 on Friday night in front of 2,064 fans at the Cox Convention Center. After surrendering a 3-0 lead to the Aeros in the third period, Oklahoma City held on for a 4-3 win behind a goal by Jordan Eberle with 6:!6 left in regulation. Barons forwards Taylor Hall and Eberle each scored in the first 1:26 of play and Oklahoma City never trailed, ending the Aeros five-game points streak (4-0-1-0). Aeros forwards Mikael Granlund, Charlie Coyle and Johan Larson each scored in the third period to tie the game 3-3, as Houston outshot Oklahoma City 17-5 in the final period. Barons goalie Yann Danis (3-2-0) made 35 saves in the victory, while Aeros goalie Darcy Kuemper (3-1-0) suffered the loss with 14 saves. The same two teams will meet again in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

Oklahoma City scored twice in the first 1:26 to jump ahead 2-0 in the first period. Taylor Hall tipped a Chris VandeVelde shot past Darcy Kuemper just 38 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Colton Teubert had the second assist on Hall’s first goal of the season. Less than a minute later, the Barons tallied their second goal of the night for a 2-0 lead. Jordan Eberle collected his third goal of the season, beating Kuemper at 1:26. Forwards Marc Arcobello and Teemu Hartikainen each had an assist on the play.

In the second period, Oklahoma City opened up a 3-0 lead at 18:27. Hartikainen scored his third goal of the season from Arcobello and Teigan Zahn with only 1:33 left in the middle frame.

Houston would begin a rally with two goals 38 seconds apart early in the third period. Center Mikael Granlund extended his scoring streak to seven-games at 3:46 of the period. Granlund beat goalie Yann Danis for his fourth goal of the year. Forward David McIntyre and defenseman Brian Connelly each had an assist as Houston cut the deficit to 3-1.  Johan Larsson pulled the Aeros within a goal at 4:24 of the third period, scoring his second goal in as many games. Granlund and Charlie Coyle set up Larsson’s second of the season. Houston scored its third goal of the period at 10:53, a power-play tally by Coyle. Defenseman Brian Connelly slid a pass to the slot for Coyle, who redirected the shot past Danis for a 3-3 game. Left wing Kris Foucault added an assist as the Aeros tied the game halfway through the final frame.  The Barons would regain the lead at 13:44 of the third, Eberle finished off a play for his second goal of the night. Defenseman Justin Schultz and Arcobello each had an assist as Oklahoma City held on for the 4-3 win. 

Houston will play two games in Oklahoma City this coming weekend, prior to coming back home on Sunday, Nov. 4. The Aeros wrap up a two-game set with the Barons on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. Houston will return home on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. with the Grand Rapids Griffins at Toyota Center. This season, every Sunday home game is a Sunday Family Day. Aeros fans may purchase four tickets, parking and four Aeros gifts starting at $54.
