Houston, TX – The Houston Aeros (28-20-4-3, 63 points) defeated the Oklahoma City Barons (24-20-2-5, 55 points) 2-1 on Saturday night in front of a season-high 12,367 fans at Toyota Center. Defenseman Steven Kampfer scored his first goal of the season with 4:11 remaining in the first period and goalie Matt Hackett took care of the rest for the one-goal win. Hackett (18-18-3) made 36 saves on 37 shots, holding Oklahoma City off the scoreboard with 24 saves combined in the final two periods.  Newcomer Dan DaSilva scored and added an assist in his Houston debut. Center Chad Rau also had a hand in both goals with two assists, pushing the Aeros record at home to 14-8-2-2. Kampfer also added an assist for the multi-point game. Oklahoma City goalie Yann Danis (15-13-3) suffered the loss with 21 saves on 23 shots. The Aeros hit the road for the next four games, starting Friday night at 9 p.m. (CT) in Abbotsford.

Houston opened the scoring at 10:08 of the first period, as newcomer Dan DaSilva scored in his team debut for the 1-0 lead. Defenseman Steven Kampfer sprung center Chad Rau into the Barons zone. Rau then set up DaSilva for the one-timer and game’s first goal. Oklahoma City countered at 14:54 when Mark Arcobello scored his 15th goal of the season. Defenseman Brett Clark fired a pass to center, setting up Arcobello for the breakaway. The Barons center slipped the puck between the legs of Houston goalie Matt Hackett for the 1-1 tie. Houston moved back in front at 15:49 with Kampfer’s first goal of the season. Rau won the faceoff to DaSilva, who tipped the puck to the blueline. Kampfer held the puck in the offensive zone and blasted a slap shot from the right point, beating Oklahoma City goalie Yann Danis for the 2-1 final score.
