MINNESOTA TRADES KASSIAN TO OTTAWA
Houston Returns Home on Thursday to Host Abbotsford
Houston, TX – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Tuesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired a sixth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Matt Kassian.
Kassian, 26 (10/28/86), has recorded one goal and 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in nine games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season. The 6-foot-4, 232-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta did not appear in a game with Minnesota this season before getting reassigned to Houston on Feb. 14. He notched two goals and 67 PIM in 28 career matches with the Wild. Kassian was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (57th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. From 2007-13, the rugged forward played in 229 games for the Aeros, compiling 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points, to go along with 505 penalty minutes.
After playing 12 of their last 13 games on the road, the Aeros return home on Thursday, Mar. 14 at 7 p.m. as the team hosts Abbotsford at Toyota Center. The game marks a “Thirsty Thursday”, where fans (21 and older) receive a “second drink free coupon” for The Maple Leaf Pub (Smith and Elgin). The first 500 fans to The Maple Leaf Pub after the game will be able to redeem their coupon for their second drink free.
